Carp art!

Custom carp painting on leather mounted in a net

Check out this cool fish art my girlfriend got me for my birthday.  It is painted on leather and strung into a wooden net with fly line.  The artist said it was her first carp.  She got the hysterical, I'm about to freak out, carp eye and face perfectly.  Awesome!  She usually paints trout and salmon and her work can be found on her facebook page and on Instagram Pulham Paintings (@pulhampaintings).

Butte Montana's "The Graylings" by Roger Peet

"The Graylings" by Roger Peet

This is definitely the coolest street art I've seen.  Butte, Montana probably has the United States' best ghost signs on the sides of our amazing collection of historic buildings but this is by far the coolest living art I've seen in Montana on the side of a historic structure.  This is a fantastic reminder of our bioregional heritage here in Butte, America and something that makes me smile every time I drive past it!

Come to Butte and see our amazing city, fish our fabulous and world famous streams, and check out "The Graylings" on Broadway!

Also, stay tuned for my first Butte area fishing report which I'll post in the next couple of days.

Rise Designs

I learned a lot from my time in California this summer.  The best part about the whole trip was the people I met while I was down there.  Of all these great people I was lucky enough to meet, there was one married couple and dog that was just awesome and made the whole trip worth it.  The husband is co-owner of a bad-ass clothing and design business located in Meyers, CA.

Graphic stolen from Rise Designs' Website

"RISE is a clothing company inspired by nature, music, and design."

Red fir from Yosemite graphic

This graphic is on the back of a hoodie I have.  These red firs from Yosemite will always remind me of when I had my ass handed to me there by the Sierras and the California white thorn.

These guys make some cool stuff and they also design business logos and such.  They also have a blog with updates on new designs and what they are up to.

Check out the their website and and their store on Etsy.

The "Vagina Kayak"

This handout picture taken by Rokudenashiko and Marie Akatani on 19 October 2013 shows artist Megumi Igarashi paddling a kayak designed to be the shape of her own vagina in Tokyo.
AFP Photo copied from BBC News Asia http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-28323015

The artist Megumi Igarashi aka Rokudenashiko was arrested in japan for creating a kayak shaped like a vagina.  She is using her cool idea to take exception to Japan's traditional views regarding obscenity.

Art can only be defined as something that evokes emotion.  She has generated an emotional, large, and far-reaching conversation.  So, I think she is doing a good job.

I only have one question.  Aren't all kayaks shaped like vaginas?  And drift boats too...
