"Tenkarpa"
TENKARPA! from scumliner media on Vimeo.
This is, quite possibly, the best fishing video ever made! Of course, it comes from the homies at Scumliner Media. How the hell did they make Elliot Smith work in a ridiculous video like this? Genius, that's how. Best parts at 0:23, 4:23, and 5:20.

Words to sooth my hurt butt
It was a tough weekend for this carp newb. The smell of skunk overpowered the beautiful aroma of carp slime for the first time in my carp career. This video from a couple years back says it all.

100 carp-a-clooping
Here's a video I took of a bunch of clooping carp in a foam eddy on the Upper Missouri River near Toston. It's not the best clooping video but it was sure fun to see in real life. I stuck a big one right after I shot it on a Morrish Hopper. I'm in love with carp!

Biology Friday - "Mayfly Eggs Hatching a Minute After Being Laid"
This cool video from Stroud Water Research Center shows not only a mayfly laying it's eggs (I can't believe how many), but how quickly they hatch into tiny nymphs. Freakin awesome!! I had no idea.

How a Skwala swims, with jazz
This video of a Skwala stonefly swimming in a Skwala sized swimming pool (dog bowl?) is great. You can really see how they wiggle their little asses across the water. At 0:30, the Skwala is flipped on its back and you get a trout's view. Notice the large, black egg cluster on its butt. All of my Skwala dries have an egg cluster usually made from a ball of peacock.

Hurting for some dry fly fishing? Me too...
I love winter fishing. I love streamer fishing. I love technical nymphing. Although, every year at just about this time, I really start to ache for some good, old fashioned dry fly fishing. In Montana, we are over the winter hump and every day we are getting closer to the epic spring fishing I long for. We are even starting to get some stretches of warm days which can translate into some midge maddness. Overall though, I really miss dry fly fishing.
To help you and I get through this, I'm posting this great video from The Fly Commission. Happy Friday!

Too busy for originality
You know I'm all about as much original content as possible. However, the past few weeks have been insane!! I've been climbing huge mountains for work and driving a state owned minivan on roads unsuitable for a decked out jeep. On my days off I've been sharing the world of fly fishing and boating with everyone possible. I can't feel my freaking legs and I'm fighting falling in my soup bowl here as I write this. Such is summertime in Montana where the "work hard, play hard" lifestyle is still running strong.
For now, check out A Classic Journey's best video yet! I'll have a full western Montana fishing report posted by tomorrow.

Building a Tapered Leader by Tightline Productions
I was planning on posting a how-to video for hand tied tapered leaders last month but was beat to the chase by Chi Wulff. The video they posted is from Tightline Productions and it was, by far, the best video on the topic I've ever seen. It deserves a repost.
